What makes a girl pretty?
Is it her body?
The way she looks?
The way she talks?
Society these days says
A pretty girl is supposed to be skinny,
Thin, perfect, and talk a certain way
If you’re not starving yourself, you’re doing it wrong
Every day I see pretty girls,
But they seem unaware of the world
People think being pretty is easy,
But do you know how hard that is in our society?
Girls dressing to get attention
Girls feeling unsafe walking home
Girls going out in sweatpants and hoodies,
But still getting cat-called and looked at
It’s not easy being pretty,
But it’s also not easy becoming pretty
This twisted world screams so many things
Especially to girls
Be this; if you’re not, become it
If you don’t have this, buy it
If you’re not doing this, then you’re ugly
Being a girl in this world is hard
You’re either pretty—or not
At least that’s what Instagram and TikTok love to scream
The internet yells at you on a daily basis
Saying you need to buy this expensive dress
And these shoes to be liked and loved
I think we’ve taken it too far
What even makes a girl pretty?
We know what the world says,
But what does the Lord say?
A girl is pretty not just by her looks
Her looks will fade
She’s pretty by how her heart is
A girl can look pretty and dolled up on the outside,
But if her heart is empty and cold,
All that beauty is worthless
Beauty on the outside is temporary,
But beauty on the inside
Is E V E R L A S T I N G
Yes, you can be pretty on the outside and the inside,
But don’t let the outward take over the inward
This world has let outward beauty take over
They say a woman’s worth and beauty
Comes from her money,
How she dresses, and her body
But I think true and deep beauty
Comes from the h e a r t
Does she smile at strangers?
Does she carry Jesus in her heart?
Does she shine with beauty no one can explain?
That beauty that doesn’t seem to fade?
That is the Jesus glow
That beauty comes from our Lord and Savior
It shines in and out of her
It radiates and makes others notice
That there’s something different about her
She doesn’t talk like the worldly girls
She doesn’t dress like them
She doesn’t carry herself like them
Because she knows where her worth comes from
No, she knows Who it comes from—
It comes from her Lord and Savior
She doesn’t need to be a certain way for Him
No—He loves her just the way she is—
Flaws and all
She knows His opinion
Is the only one that truly matters
His opinion never changes
He calls her
Beloved,
Daughter
and
His Priceless Treasure
Her worth and beauty
Doesn’t come from what society says,
But it comes from the King of Kings
She wears HIS LOVE like a flowing dress
She wears HIS WORDS OF LIFE like a pair of stunning high heels
She wears HIS TRUTH like the most beautiful hairstyle you have ever seen
She is clothed in His style
HIS STYLE is one that will never fade or be out of date
So take off the clothes of this world
Take off what society and
The internet is saying to you, and
Dress yourself in His attire
Take up a new name
No longer pretty, but
Breathtaking
Stunning
Glowing
With that Jesus glow
That won’t ever fade
“Do not let your adornment be merely outward—
arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel—
rather let it be the hidden person of the heart,
with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit,
which is very precious in the sight of God.”
-1 Peter 3: 3-4
