I sit in the library
Thousands of books surround me
The smell of new and old pages fills the silent room
I sit in a small, hidden cubby
On the top floor
It’s so silent
So still
Yet somehow
It feels as if I belong here

The books quietly call my name
Whispering of stories yet to be read and opened
I want to read every single book
Starting from the top shelf down to the lowest one
I want to read of heroic heroes who save the day
Heartbroken girls wanting to find their place
Animals that can talk
Science
Fiction
Fantasy
All call my name as I sit here surrounded
by the one thing that I truly love and hold dear—
Books

In a way, my life is a book, too
The pages keep turning
The book sometimes smells and feels new,
and at other times old
The chapters can change depending on the moment
It can go from a happy to sad story
Books have a way of keeping you on your toes
From having you laughing,
To crying on the floor
Sometimes it makes you want to throw the book across the room
Sometimes we giggle and blush at the love scenes

Our life is the same way
We can enjoy the chapters
The different stories that unfold
But we can also get to parts that are hard,
Chapters that seem unpleasant or boring
But at the end of the day,
what makes a book a book?

I would say it’s the entire story
Whether good or bad
Exciting or dull
There will be fun parts
And there will be annoying ones
But at the end of the day,
A book is entertaining
As soon as you turn that first page
You are in a completely different world
No longer your own

So when life feels overwhelming,
I would encourage you, dear reader
To pick up a book
It can be your favorite one
Or one you’ve never read before
And begin to read
Watch the plot unravel
And remind yourself
That life can be hard
But the chapters go on
The pages keep flowing and the ink doesn’t run dry

Stories usually have a happy ending,
But sometimes they end
where the character learns about themselves for a time
Not one book has the same ending
So who are you, dear reader, to judge yours?

Your book is so unique and so different from all the others
Yours is one no one can copy and paste
Your story
Your chapters
Your book is an original
One of a kind

So let The Writer type
Let Him be in charge of how your story goes
Trust Him in the high and the lows
After all, don’t book characters have to face
all sorts of challenges, wins and losses?
So consider yourself a character in a book
And that God is The Author of your story
Everyday He is perfecting your pages
Adding new lines and new ink blotches
He is and has been working on your book
and your story from the start
He won’t stop until it’s complete

So, dear reader
Let God be The Author
And watch how He writes your story
Chapter by chapter
Page by page
Maybe the book can feel ordinary some days
But I promise
He is writing something extraordinary
Oh, dear reader
Please have some faith
Have some patience
And have some trust

The Author knows how to write
The best of the best stories
And you are blessed
that The Person writing your story
is the best Author known to mankind
For His hand never gets tired
He never takes pleasure when His creation is hurting
He loves you, dear reader
He loves you through every chapter
you’re going to live and experience
He loves everything about you
After all, He is the one who made you
He is the one in charge of your story

So, dear reader, next time you feel discouraged
Pick up a book and remind yourself—
You are not in charge of your story
But instead,
You are the main character in a novel
More amazing and beautiful than you can ever imagine
He is The Author
Your life is the book
You are the main character
Enjoy every page and chapter
For your life is a story
And God is The Writer

” …all the days ordained for me were written in Your book
before one of them came to be.” -Psalm 139:16
